The Idaho Secretary of State's Office is warning about scams targeting small businesses. Small businesses are receiving mailers that look like official government forms offering business compliance filings, including certificates of existence or UCC statements. The advertisements demand large fees and include deadlines to create a false sense of urgency. Idaho businesses rarely need the advertised documents and if they do, the forms can be obtained directly from the state.


For now, Boise-based Albertsons remains a standalone company, not with parts sold to Kroger or C&S Wholesale Grocers.  With the merger hanging in the balance, Albertsons continues to see strong sales and profit results, as noted in its third-quarter earnings report.  The company said it saw net sales & revenue grow to $18.6 billion in the quarter, which ended on December 2nd – up two percent from the $18.2 billion in the same period of 2022. 


The Idaho Legislature has resumed its efforts to enact a law to prevent libraries from providing “harmful materials” to minors. Last year, Governor Brad Little vetoed the bill.  The bill last year would have allowed minors, parents or guardians to sue a library for $2,500 for a violation of the bill.  Under the new legislation, a form could be filled out asking libraries to relocate a library item that they deem “harmful” to the adult section.


The BLM will implement an annual seasonal motorized travel closure in the South Hills area, south of Twin Falls, starting next tuesday. The closure is intended to prevent resource damage and protect crucial mule deer winter range and sage-grouse habitat. The area remains open to the public for non-motorized use.


Police are continuing to search for two males identified as El Guero and El Diablo following the murder of Jamie Bravo and Jesse Ortiz-Meda.  They died following a shooting at the Tint Shop V on December 1st.  40 year old Angelica Martinez was allegedly the getaway driver.  Her court date has been pushed back to March 1st.
