The two people accused of first degree murder in the death of Gooding resident Roger Driesel have taken a plea deal and will plead guilty to the charge.  Athena Miller and Nicholas James appeared in court yesterday.  The plea deal was for 25 years fixed in Prison and life undetermined. 



Last Thursday, the BLM released a preferred alternative plan that shrinks the Lava Ridge wind turbine project by nearly half of its total turbines. Now Attorney General Raúl Labrador has announced an appeal with the FAA to halt progress on the development. Labrador said they pose a hazard to local aircraft, and to agricultural aviation operations.



The Owyhee County Sheriff’s office has arrested a 29 year old man on charges of manslaughter.  Authorities say Christian Price was taken into custody after they found a 41 year old Owyhee county man dead from a single gunshot. 



A boat on the Mackay Reservoir exploded into flames Friday sending those in the water into the 52 degree water.  Two People were on board the 23 foot cabin cruiser.  Another boater rescued them and took them to shore.  The craft was consumed by fire and sank in to 52 feet of water. 



The family of a Caldwell woman who planned the details of her own funeral discovered she was buried in the incorrect spot when they arrived for the funeral. The city says they had to pick a different spot because of a tree root running through the plot.  Elaine Reese, passed away from terminal cancer in July 2023.  She chose her own burial plot at Canyon Hill Cemetery.  Later her body was exhumed and moved.  A tort claim was dismissed.



Two wildfires were reported yesterday afternoon.  Both were in  the  canyon between Jerome and Twin Falls and burned under 10 acres total. 



Idaho Governor Brad Little said he is optimistic as groundwater users are working on a deal to avoid water curtailment.  Some junior stakeholders earlier were told they would have to turn off the water in order to supply water to senior users.  The concern is over the dwindling water in the Eastern Snake Pain Aquifer.
