A 12-person jury sentenced Chad Daybell to death this month, but it will be many years, maybe decades, before the Fremont County man is executed.  The seven other inmates have been on death row with the current length of stay averaging at just over 27 years.  The main reason for the long delay in executing inmates is due to a lengthy set of appeals.

For Idaho drivers, it’s been another week of savings at the pump, but prices may change direction soon.   According to AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular in the Gem State is $3.55, which is three cents less than a week ago.  With the 4th of July just around the corner and a record number of travelers expected to hit the roads and head for the airports, this season of unusual savings may soon come to an end.

A voluntary recall has been issued for a mixed nuts product sold in six states along the West Coast including Idaho after a customer discovered the presence of undeclared peanut in the product.  The bulk food distributor, DSD Merchandisers, announced a recall Monday of its Deluxe Roasted and Salted Mixed Nuts, which have a sell-by date of October 9.

Recounts of the Idaho May Primary election are complete and in each recount the outcome remained the same as that of the election night results.  The recounts included two precinct committeeman races in Twin Falls.

A Boise man has been arrested following a fire on BLM land that burned 36 acres and threatened homes at the end of North Collister Drive at the polecat gulch trailhead in Ada County.  Bryan Grensing was charged with felony arson.

The Supreme Court on Monday jumped into the fight over transgender rights, agreeing to hear an appeal from the Biden administration seeking to block state bans on gender-affirming care.  Most of the state restrictions face lawsuits. The justices had previously allowed Idaho to generally enforce its restrictions, after they had been blocked by lower courts.
