It appears several incumbents were tossed out of office yesterday.  Here is a look at the unofficial primary election results from across the gem state.  Winner in the district 24 state senate race Glenneda Zuiderveld.  District 25 Josh Kohl.  Other locals leading the race were Clint Hostetler, David Leavitt, Mike Pohanka, Jack Nelson is leading and Clay Handy.  For the US representative seat, Mike Simpson the winner.  Idaho Senate Leader Chuck Winder was ousted in the primary election.



Local issues include the Rock Creek Fire Protection bond that passed.  The Castleford school request failed.  Buhl school levy passed.  The Minidoka library district failed.  Construction of street maintance in Cassia County passed.   Hagerman fire levy passed.  The Bliss highway district request failed.  Wendell residents said yes to the fund request.  Shoshone districts request passed. 



For the sheriff races, numbers show George Oppedyk won in Jerome.  Jack Johnson sheriff in Twin Falls.  Morgan Ballis for Blaine County. Vern Eames will be Goodings county commissioner.  Sheryl Koyle wins Minidoka county commissioners seat. 



A secession plan known as the "Greater Idaho Movement" is gaining momentum in Oregon as some residents feel they no longer belong in the liberal-run state and would be better served by their neighbor to the east. If successful, the Greater Idaho Movement would move Oregon's eastern border west by 200 miles, allowing some rural parts of the state to combine with neighboring Idaho.



An 18 year old male from Caldwell died in a 2 vehicle accident yesterday on U.S. 20-26 and Northside Boulevard in Canyon County.  Police say he crossed the center line with his van and collided head on with a pickup.  It happened just after 3 am.

 


An Idaho man could be linked to the deaths of 4 young women nearly 50 years ago in Canada.  Police there say the now deceased Gary Allen Srery who died in custody in Idaho may have had a part in the women’s deaths from the 70s to the 90’s.

Friday:  Sunny, with a high near 70. Light and variable wind becoming northwest 5 to 7 mph in the afternoon.

Friday Night:  Mostly cloudy, with a low around 45.

 

Saturday:  A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 66.

Saturday Night:  Partly cloudy, with a low around 41.

 

Sunday:  Sunny, with a high near 67.

Sunday Night:  Mostly clear, with a low around 43.

 

Memorial Day:  Sunny, with a high near 78.

Monday Night:  Mostly clear, with a low around 50.
