Local Sports 5/1/24


In high school baseball one game to report.  Declo defeated Preston 10 to 3.  It was the Preston Indians senior day.



On the sports schedule for today, first or high school baseball, Burley visits Declo, Filer goes to Gooding, Buhl to Kimberly.



For softball, Gooding will travel to Buhl to start district tournament play.  Filer goes to Kimberly for District games. 



The College of Southern Idaho Softball Team won six games this past week and Abby Hayes earned three in the circle, being named Scenic West Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week. The Golden Eagles travel to Price, Utah, for their final regular season series before opening up Monday at the Region 18 Tournament in Salt Lake City.



The Idaho State Bengals fell to the BYU Cougars 5-1 yesterday afternoon at Miller Ranch Stadium   The Bengals put together three full scoreless innings before the Cougars were able to break the stalemate in the fourth with an RBI single to left field. The Bengals have one more regular season game scheduled today against the UVU Wolverines weather permitting. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00 PM.



Boise State's Sam Sippel and Jip van Assendelft have been selected to compete at the 2024 NCAA Men's Tennis National Singles and Doubles Championships, which will be held May 20-25 in Stillwater, Okla.  Sippel has been selected to compete in both singles and doubles with van Assendelft as his doubles partner.



University of Idaho women's basketball head coach Carrie Eighmey resigned her position to pursue another division I head coaching opportunity closer to her Midwest roots. Associate Head Coach Arthur Moreira Assistant Coach Drew Muscatell will remain on the staff at the University of Idaho.
