From the local high school baseball games from yesterday, first in a double header, Canyon Ridge told Mountain Home no twice, 18 to 6 and 10 to 8. It was Gooding 12 Buhl 2. Glenns Ferry outlasted Rimrock 14 to 0. Then Glenns Ferry told Gem State Academy no with a 12 to 2 score. Lighthouse outlasted Wilder 25 to 4.
For softball, Canyon Ridge won the first game in a double header with Mountain Home 17 to 7. Then Mountain Home turned it around to win the second game 10 to 9. Wendell for the win over Filer 12 to 5.
Looking at today high school baseball schedule, we find Preston visiting Kimberly, Firth heads to Wendell, Filer travels to Buhl and Pocatello will visit Twin Falls to play the Bruins. As far as softball games, Burley travels to Twin Falls, Declo goes to Firth and Buhl to Kimberly.
Boise State women's basketball will face Montana in Missoula, Mont., in the first round of the Women's National Invitational Tournament, the event announced with its bracket release yesterday afternoon. The game will tip off at 7 p.m. tomorrow. The winner of the contest will face North Dakota State in the second round. Boise State will be making its third appearance at the WNIT. The Blue and Orange last appeared in the postseason event in 2008, defeating Idaho State 77-54 in the first round before falling to TCU 85-56 in the second. The Broncos first appeared in 1998, losing to LSU 58-38 in the first round.
Kaylee Headrick helped the College of Southern Idaho Women's Basketball Team to the Region 18 Championship last week and was named Region 18 Player of the Year yesterday. Joining her with all-region honors is sophomore Jamisyn Heaton on the Region 18 First Team. CSI drew the 12th seed at the NJCAA National Tournament in Casper, Wyo., next week. The Golden Eagles will take on Connors State Tuesday at 9:15 p.m.
