Sports 3/8/24


It’s the start of Baseball and softball.  Yesterday Fruitland defeated Kimberly 12 to 7.

Today, for high school baseball games, Glenns Ferry will host Gem State.  Wood River travels to Skyview.  Emmett travels to Canyon Ridge and Soda Springs will play Declo.  Buhl travels to Parma.  Tomorrow Wood River goes to Bishop Kelly, Pocatello to Canyon Ridge, Gooding visits Jerome, Wendell and Grangeville meet at Nampa Christian, Filer travels to Homedale and Snake River will visit Kimberly.  Buhl is on the road to play Payette. 


For the softball games today, Horseshoe Ben visits Glenns Ferry.  Gooding Goes to Declo and it’s the Wendell tournament .  On Saturday, Filer travels to Caldwell, Bear Lake goes to Declo, Kimberly to Homedale, Jerome hosts Vallivue, Ridgevue heads to Twin Falls, and the Wendell Tournament continues. 


Its rodeo time for the college of southern  Idaho.  It’s all at the CSI expo center.  The 47th annual event begins at 7 each night.


At CSI, the men’s basketball team is getting ready for some important basketball this weekend.  The No. 25 Golden Eagles are in Salt Lake over the weekend, playing in the Region 18 Tournament.  CSI will play Utah State University Eastern tonight.  No. 3 Salt Lake Community College will take on North Idaho College.


The 2024 football season tickets are now fully on sale with fans able to purchase tickets online.  The announcement comes after the Boise State ticket office wrapped up the deposit period and updated the seating map with available seats.  New for this season fans can find additional seating areas with season prices for as many as 8,000 seats are now priced lower than in the past.  Go to broncosports.com/tickets for more info.


University of Idaho’s Brayden Parker and Maleek Arington have been named to the Big Sky Men's Basketball All-Conference teams. Arington has also been named to the Big Sky All-Defensive Team, being one of only two players in the conference to be a unanimous decision for All-Defensive team.


The Bengals men's basketball squad will open the first round of the Big Sky Conference Tournament tomorrow as the 8th seed taking on the 7th seeded Northern Arizona Lumberjacks. Idaho State and NAU split their season series this year, the Bengals winning by two in Flagstaff and the Lumberjacks winning in double overtime just one week ago in Pocatello. 


The Idaho State women's basketball team's season comes to a head in Boise for the 2024 Big Sky Basketball Tournament.  The #7 seed Bengals will take on the #8 seed Sacramento State Hornets in the first round of the tournament.


Boise State wide receivers coach Matt Miller is adding passing game coordinator to his title beginning this upcoming season.  The announcement comes just days before the Broncos are set to open spring practice next week with the first of 15 spring sessions scheduled for Monday morning.
