Twin Falls County is seeking damages against a former employee who in 2021

was awarded a $664,000 judgment in a jury trial but later settled for a lower

monetary amount when a new trial was ordered. Brent Hilliard, a former

Twin Falls Sheriff’s captain who said he was wrongfully terminated from the

sheriff’s office, is being sued for breach of contract after court records say he

is attempting to back out of the settlement.

Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador, along with attorneys general from

North Dakota, Alaska, Iowa, Nebraska, South Carolina, and South Dakota, sued

the EPA and the Biden Administration to protect state rights over their water

and wildlife resources. The EPA’s new rule forces states to prioritize tribal

claims over the rights of their citizens.

Suntado, a US-based contract manufacturer of dairy and other beverages, has

opened a 190,000-square-foot production facility in Burley. The company

expects the facility to be commercially ready this month – at which point it

will be able to process up to 1 million lbs of local milk per day into shelf-stable

and extended shelf life milk and other liquid dairy products.

Idahoans are seeing a nice change at the pump. According to GasBuddy, the

average cost of unleaded gasoline in Idaho was $3.69 per gallon, as of the first

week of June. The lowest price recorded in the state was $3.12 per gallon,

while the highest was $3.99, a difference of 87 cents per gallon.

Chad Daybell has been transferred to the Idaho Maximum Security Institution

in Kuna following his formal death sentence, which was determined by a jury

on Saturday. According to the transfer records, Daybell entered the custody of

the maximum security prison at 9:34 am yesterday.

Weather forecasters say yesterday’s cool weather won’t be hanging around as

the rest of the week will see increasing temps in southern Idaho. Summer will

arrive with a bang later this week as a high-pressure system from Mexico

moves northward through the Great Basin. The Weather Service was

forecasting a high of 80 degrees for today, 84 tomorrow, 92 for Thursday and

94 for Friday.
